Stewardship Focus
The Servant Leadership Team has approved a budget of $962,400 for the 2017/2018 fiscal year.
This includes a line item for payments towards the mortgage on the Rev. Roy B. Phillips Memorial Building.
We are asking that you begin "drawing circles" around this funding plan.
In the upcoming weeks, we will focus our prayers on six different components of our budget, which are listed below. We ask that you spend personal time in prayer each day for the funding plan. We also ask that you take time at each meeting or gathering at KIUMC to pray for the budgeted area. We are believing that God will honor our prayers and we will meet, if not exceed our targeted goal.

Our Mortgage: May 21 - May 27For the first time, the payment for our mortgage is being included in our ministry funding plan. In practical terms, this means that we have increased our budget by $182,208.
For the past 11 years, the mortgage has been paid with money given to our Building Fund. However, our current capital campaign ends on June 30. Beginning July 1, we are asking everyone currently giving to the Building Fund to prayerfully consider shifting their current gifts to the General Fund. For those who have not been giving to the Building Fund, we ask that prayerfully consider giving more to the General Fund to help meet this important obligation. Here is what the Phillips Building provides for us.
In addition, the Phillips Building is heated and cooled by a state of the art, environmentally friendly, geothermal system. Staffing: June 4 - June 10One of the most important keys to the success of the large size church is the effective leadership of paid staff. For the sake of the congregation’s mission, the staff must be a cohesive and well trained team.
Much of our funding plan is dedicated to supporting our paid staff. In addition to salaries, money is set aside for continuing education, administrative needs, and travel. Please pray for our current staff members this week. • Senior Pastor: David Bennett • Pastor of Caring Ministries: Amor Woolsey • Pastor of Community Outreach: Bob Timms • Pastor of Cell Ministries: Dane Rada • Director of Youth Ministry: Danae • Nursery & Information Coordinator: Laura Bagley • Music Coordinator & Organist: Cynthia Slate • Choir Director: Dennis Blair • Office Manager: Diana Harmon • Business Manager Joann Walters • Treasurer: Shelia Cernak • Facilities Manager: Mike Taylor • Evening Custodian: Harold Bordley Thank you for praying for the funding needed for our church’s ministry in the coming year. Ministry Support: June 18 - June 24An important component of our budget is that which is earmarked for Ministry Support. 31% of our funding plan helps keep our church in tip-top shape, pays the electric and heating bills, prints bulletins for Sunday worship, and so much more! These funds keep our vehicles safe and pay for background checks to keep our children and youth safe. Ministry Support funds pay for the license needed to project music and also pays for our website. It is important to remember that funds that are used for these areas are also ministry!
Another 11% of our budget goes to meet our obligation to the United Methodist Church. This is the main way United Methodists support the ministries of the global UMC. Apportionments are our method of giving that proportionally allocates the world wide UMC budget to conferences and local churches. Together, through our connected congregations, we accomplish what no single church, district, or annual conference ever could hope to do alone. Thank you for praying for the Ministry Support Focus Area and for all the funding needed for our church’s ministry in the coming year. |
Grow Up Focus Area: May 28 - June 3“We grow up in Jesus Christ when we continually seek God’s direction, are empowered by the Holy Spirit and undergirded by prayer, so that our worship is dynamic, energizing the people and glorifying God.”
Part of our funding plan is dedicated to supporting our Grow Up Focus Area. Our Grow Up Focus Area partners with our pastors to plan our Sunday worship services, as well as services such as Christmas Eve. They also teach and encourage prayer in our church, as it is vitally important that we communicate with God and know what God wants. Here are some prayer points as you pray this week.
Thank you for praying for the funding needed for our church’s ministry in the coming year. Grow Out Focus Area: June 11 - June 17“We grow out in Jesus Christ when we tell the world why we love Him and reach out as God’s arms to serve our community and our world with a welcoming and loving witness, so that we can be a part of the work of the Holy Spirit, building a community of peace with justice, meeting the needs of God’s world, and touching the hearts of the lost.”
A portion of our funding plan is dedicated to supporting our Grow Out Focus Area. Grow Out has both an inward and outward focus. It cares for the needs within the church and reaches out to the world through acts of service and evangelism. Here are some prayer points as you pray this week. • Our support ministries: Healing Ministry, GriefShare, The Landing, and Celebrate Recovery. • The Caring Lay Ministry as it cares for the needs of our church members. • Our mission partnership in Costa Rica and Congo. • Our vision to share the Gospel with all the world! Thank you for praying for the funding needed for our church’s ministry in the coming year. Grow Deep Focus Area: June 25 - July 1“We grow deep in Jesus Christ when we practice ‘holy habits’ we learn from the word of God, ask for the grace to discern and develop our gifts, and invite the Holy Spirit to transform our weaknesses into strengths, so that we equip our members to mature in an intimate walk with Jesus Christ within an accountable community of love and peace.”
Discipleship and fellowship are so important. It is our goal to see every person attending KIUMC growing as a disciple of Jesus Christ. We are healthy as we grow deep in our understanding of God’s word and as we grow deep in our relationships with others. Here are some prayer points as you pray this week.
Thank you for praying for our 2017/2018 Funding Plan. |
